ASK THE DOCTOR - Concerned

Dear Dr. Ben-Ozer,
My partner and I have attempted 6 cycles of home insemination with our dear friend’s sperm. We are not pregnant and are very frustrated and concerned. What’s next? -Cyn and Leslie, in Los Angeles
Dear Concerned,
If you are under 35 years old and in good general and reproductive health, I’d recommend you have a basic fertility evaluation with an REI, or your OB/GYN if s/he do basic fertility work. At this juncture, you need to exclude blockage of the tubes, evaluate a hormone panel, and check the sperm for motility and health.
